Roberto Lopez-Tamayo is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than ten years of clinical experience providing bilingual and bicultural services for children and adults coping with a wide range of concerns, including mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma/PTSD, substance use, and acculturation challenges. Roberto has worked in hospitals, academic and community clinics, and school settings, and he provides services in both English and Spanish.

Outside of his clinical work, Roberto serves as the program evaluator for the Urban Youth Trauma Center at the Institute for Juvenile Research at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His previous research has supported multiple NIH-funded programs focused on violence prevention and intervention as well as substance use.

Roberto studied philosophy as an undergraduate in his hometown of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. After moving to Chicago, he completed graduate training in clinical psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (MA) and DePaul University (PhD).

During graduate school, Roberto developed a network of mental health providers serving Latino communities in the Chicago area with support from the Chicago Community Trust and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. The initiative aimed to increase cultural competency among providers, strengthen referral networks, and serve as a liaison with community organizations, leaders, and policymakers.
