Roberto Lopez-Tamayo is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 10 years of clinical experience providing bilingual and bicultural services for children and adults coping with an extensive range of mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma/PTSD, substance abuse, and acculturation issues. Roberto has clinical experience working in hospitals, academic-based and community-based clinics, as well as in school settings. He offers services in both English and Spanish.

Outside of his clinical work, Roberto currently serves as the program evaluator for the Urban Youth Trauma Center based at the Institute for Juvenile Research at The University of Illinois at Chicago. His previous research experience has been in support of multiple NIH-funded programs focused on violence prevention and intervention as well as substance abuse.

Roberto studied philosophy as an undergraduate in his hometown of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and, upon moving to Chicago, studied clinical psychology at both The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (MA) and DePaul University (PhD).  While in graduate school, Roberto developed a network of mental health providers working with Latinos in the Chicago area with the support of the Chicago Community Trust and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. The objectives were to increase cultural competency among mental health providers working with Latinos, strengthen the referral network among providers, and to serve as a liaison with community-based organizations, community leaders and legislators.
