I chose the artistic tradition of kintsugi as a symbol of our clinical work with great care. You’ll see references to this ancient craft woven throughout the site, and for those who are curious, I’d like to share a bit about its meaning.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold alloy, honoring the breakage as part of the object’s story rather than something to hide or discard. Rooted in the philosophy of wabi-sabi, it reflects the idea that there is beauty in imperfection, and value in what has been weathered.
Most of us have felt broken by life at times - by loss, change, relationships, or simply the weight of being human. But through healing, through tending to what cracked us open, we often find not weakness, but strength. Those signs of fracture become evidence of survival and resilience - a life fully lived. That, to me, is beautiful.
