Cynthia Morote-Ariza is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive clinical experience across a range of settings, including community mental health, assisted living for older adults, and learning resources for children and adolescents. While she incorporates a variety of evidence-based modalities in her work, her clinical perspective is rooted in psychodynamic and systemic approaches.

Cynthia’s clinical interests include phase-of-life transitions, emerging adulthood, grief and loss, race and cultural issues, women’s issues, learning differences/ADHD, and mental health among high-level athletes and artists working in performance-driven fields. She provides services in both English and Spanish.

Cynthia studied psychology as an undergraduate and received her Master’s degree in clinical/medical social work from Loyola University Chicago. In 2016, she completed the Fellowship Program at the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute, where she also studied in the Fundamentals of Psychoanalytic Thought Program. Her work reflects a particular interest in how individual growth and development are shaped by relationships from the earliest stages of life and across the lifespan.

A gifted athlete from a young age, Cynthia played Division I soccer at Loyola University Chicago and was the first women’s soccer player inducted into the Loyola Athletics Hall of Fame. In 2010, she was drafted in the fifth round of the Women’s Professional Soccer Draft by the Boston Breakers and later played professionally in Vantaa, Finland. Drawing on this experience, Cynthia has developed a specialization working with high-level athletes and understands firsthand the unique pressures of performance-driven environments. She particularly enjoys working with athletes and artists, who often navigate similar demands around performance, identity, and the practical realities of sustaining a creative or competitive career.
