Cynthia Morote-Ariza is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a breadth and depth of clinical experience ranging from community mental health to assisted living for older adults to learning resources for children and adolescents. While she incorporates a variety of evidence-based modalities in her work, her practice is rooted in a psychodynamic and systemic perspective. Cynthia’s clinical interests include phase-of-life transitions, emerging adulthood, grief and loss, race and cultural issues, women’s issues, learning differences/ADHD, and mental health in high-level athletes. She offers services in both English and Spanish.
Cynthia studied psychology as an undergraduate and received her masters in clinical/medical social work at Loyola University of Chicago. In 2016, she completed the Fellowship Program at the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute and studied in their Fundamentals of Psychoanalytic Thought Program. She has a specific interest in the way that individual growth and development is relationship-based from the very moment of birth and throughout life as well as the ways in which individuals internalize these interpersonal experiences.
A gifted athlete from a young age, Cynthia played Division I soccer and was the first women's soccer player to enter the Loyola Athletics Hall of Fame. In 2010, she was drafted in the fifth round of the Women's Professional Soccer Draft to the Boston Breakers and later played professionally in Vantaa, Finland. Cynthia has a specialization working with high-level athletes given her first-hand knowledge of the unique stressors faced by individuals who participate in competitive sports.
